A Letter from Me, about Me (so self-centered already, I know), to You

Hello there, You,

I hope you are doing well. So glad you stopped by. Welcome.

If you have not already gathered from the title, this page serves to tell you a bit more about me, Devon Elizabeth Presutti. 21 years old, a student at the University of Michigan, majoring in Economics and minoring in Writing. Those are some of the basics, the usual you probably come across on most “about the author” pages. Some more of the basics: I am from Colorado, which is what I tell people when they ask, but I was actually born in New York City and spent my most ~formative~ high school years at a boarding school in Connecticut. I am the oldest of four, and for those that know me well, my status as the firstborn child is readily apparent in my personality and general way of life. What can I say, I am a perfectionist, for better or for worse. I love to help those around me, whether it may be with compassion, empathy, or just friendly advice. I love my family, so much so I decided to spend my last year of college living with my sister at her university in Colorado so I could be closer to them. Oh and I forgot to mention that I am technically a senior this year, although this is only my third year at U of M because I decided to graduate early. So, when I have a hard time explaining the most basic question of what year I am in college, please don’t be too thrown off, because quite frankly, I am just as lost as you are.

Let’s see, what else. I love John Mayer. His “Essentials” playlist is the first thing I put on when I hop in the car or start cleaning my room or if I am being honest, literally whenever I listen to music. And yes, in case you were wondering (which I know you probably were not), he was my top artist on my Spotify 2020 Wrapped. I absolutely love to ski, ever since my parents threw me into that hideous outfit with suspenders and orange fleece and sunglasses instead of goggles. I am addicted to coffee. The poster that hangs on my bedroom wall pretty much sums that one up nicely. I wouldn’t say I have found my one passion in life yet, not that there must necessarily only be one. I keep telling myself that it will be okay because I am only 21 and I still have some time to figure it out. Right? I do love fashion and design and art. Living sustainably and helping the environment is something I believe not only I should care about but everyone on this beautiful planet. I really love stuffed animals, even more so entering my second decade of life. I love love to cook. I guess you could say I am a vegan, sort of. My sister has coined us by the term “Pescevegan.” I won’t bore you with the grueling details but congratulations if you can figure it out on your own.

I can’t seem to think of anything else of the top of my head, but I bet if you asked my friends and family they could come up with a thousand things I missed and probably would have never thought of by myself. Although I do believe that must be the case for a lot of people out there. It can be difficult to take a step back and look at yourself in the mirror through someone else’s eyes. I hope I haven’t scared you away because if you do decide to stick around, I know it will be worth it. Well, I guess you can all be the judge of that.

With love,

Me
